"Mrs. Pie-der"

“Mrs. Pie-der” is one of the multiple facets of a series of work called “Sugar-Babies.” She is a cherry pie-spider hybrid made of felt, wire, makeup, and stuffing. She exists as a representation of a “domestic” feminine archetype. Her cherry pie body represents the stereotypical American dream housewife. Her multiple arms represent the range of responsibilities she is tasked with: cooking, cleaning, baking, mothering, etc., all while her eyeliner remains intact and beautiful. A spider, once a powerful, creative, and cunning creature, is now domesticated into an obedient and beautiful house pet.
